KE3 Prompt-Writing Framework

KE3 framework — Knowledge Exploration, Enrichment, and Exploitation — is powerful for structuring knowledge work, ideation, and applied thinking. When applied to writing ChatGPT prompts, KE3 can guide users to:
- Explore new knowledge or uncover insights
- Enrich that knowledge through analysis, expansion, or synthesis
- Exploit the knowledge for practical use, innovation, or decision-making
How to Apply the KE3 Framework in Prompt Design
Below is a breakdown of each phase, its purpose, prompt structures, and example prompts:
1. Knowledge Exploration
Purpose: Discover new ideas, patterns, or hidden information.
Prompt Starters:
- “Explore the core ideas behind…”
- “What are the emerging trends in…”
- “Uncover key factors that influence…”
Example Prompt:
Explore the main factors driving digital transformation in rural education systems.
2. Knowledge Enrichment
Purpose: Deepen, expand, and connect knowledge from multiple sources or perspectives.
Prompt Starters:
- “Analyze how [A] and [B] are connected…”
- “Enrich this topic by comparing different models or theories…”
- “What are the implications of [concept] in [context]?”
Example Prompt:
Enrich the discussion on sustainable packaging by comparing Western and Asian consumer behavior patterns.
3. Knowledge Exploitation
Purpose: Apply the knowledge for innovation, policy, product design, or strategic decision-making.
Prompt Starters:
- “Apply this knowledge to create a solution for…”
- “Turn these insights into a business strategy…”
- “Design a product/service that implements the ideas above.”
Example Prompt:
Using insights about Gen Z’s digital behavior, design a mobile app that improves study habits in high school students.
Full Sample Prompt Using KE3
Explore the psychological impact of remote work on young professionals (Exploration). Then enrich this knowledge by analyzing how different cultural backgrounds affect remote work engagement (Enrichment). Finally, propose a training module for managers to support remote Gen Z employees effectively (Exploitation).
